Cat lovers nationwide can't get enough of those adorable, fluffy kittens. According to the American Humane Society, Americans own more than 95 million cats, making them more popular than dogs. However, countless kittens don’t find homes and are left alone in shelters, on roadsides, or in the wild.
National Kitten Day, celebrated annually on July 10, aims to raise awareness about the plight of abandoned kittens.
Colleen Paige, a renowned animal advocate, behaviorist, and author, who’s founded numerous pet-related holidays, including National Dog Day and National Wildlife Day, established Kitten Day to highlight the importance of adopting kittens from shelters and rescue organizations. By doing so, she aims to reduce the number of homeless cats and promote responsible pet ownership.
